Last night I did everything I planned, plus patterned and cut out the collar (with the last of my muslin!), sewed the shoulder straps on, cut the hem, wrecked the wig, and looked up my mariner's cuff tutorial to figure out how to do the cuffs. Yes, I use my own tutorials. I'd say it was a productive day!

Last night I sewed the front skirts on, pleated them, sewed them, and hemmed the fronts. Tonight I hope to line the zone-y thing, bind the zone-y thing's edge, sew the front over the skirt, and think about the collar. All doable, I hope...

I don't know why, but these were majorly obnoxious to do...

None on the piemontaise front, but that's OK.

The redingote is ready to pleat the back to.

The wig needs to be recurled. Thankfully not reset. The pour over method didn't work very well, so I'll dip it tonight. This better work!

I started the redingote last night. The lining is sewn, except for where the shoulder straps had to be fitted with the stays on. I think I avoided the neckline v. armscye issue of the piemontaise (which fits!) by sewing the back correctly.

Also, I think I need a split bumroll, but that will so be last...

I was thinking about how I wanted the cap hat thing similar to what jenthompson and girliegirl32786 have done for my redingote. Of course, I can't do what either of them did, right? So portraits it was.

I came across this portrait of Madame Roland and quite liked it. It looks easy, and it's quite pretty. Fabric was a little bit confusing. I wanted a figured organza. ( Read more... )

The skirt trim is ready to hem. And it was way too confusing to cut it out so it was slightly wider at one end than the other. Only because I am me, and slight angles confuse me. Also organza!

So, in just over a month, I need to do hair for my two unfinished dresses. I have no problem with getting two dresses done. If I work they'll be fine. But hair is an issue. Kendra's book gave me wig hope--I never thought of just blending in part of my hairline before. The problem is, I don't want to make a wig. And that's rather  big problem, ( Read more... )
